James Turner III Obituary

James Hirst Turner III, “JT”, 66 of Baldwinsville, passed away at his home April
16 th . Jamie worked as a mechanic most of his career. He also worked in
maintenance at Conifer Village and Dependable Disposal, then retired from
American Music in 2000, where he enjoyed delivering instruments and meeting
people. In his retirement, he continued to enjoy small engine repair at his friend
Mark’s shop.
Jamie lived a simple and peaceful life. His friends were his family and that’s how
he valued them. He had a compassionate and kind heart, helping those in need,
always lending a hand or tools to someone. He would often check in on people
and did kind gestures. He had a love for, and owned Ford muscle cars, specifically
Torino and Mustang. He enjoyed finding treasures, fixing them up, and selling
them - always on the hunt for a deal! We fondly referred to him as “Scrapper
Jim”.
His camp gave him a sense of pride and accomplishment. A place he could get
away. He loved snowmobiling or sitting on the front porch listening to his favorite
70’s tunes and smoking a cigar. He touched more lives than he will ever know
and will be deeply missed.
He is predeceased by his parents, Cameron and James Turner, grandparents,
Maudie and Raphael Hicks. He is survived by his sisters, Cameron Tully Cook, and
Tracey (Nick) Petta. Two nieces, Cammy (Bruce) Sherman and Jodi (John) Burgess.
Two nephews Nicholas (Andrea) Petta and Joe (Emily) Petta.
A private service and burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, where he will
be laid to rest next to his biggest cheerleader, his maternal grandmother, Maudie
Hicks. A celebration of life will take place this summer. In lieu of flowers or
contributions, please take the time to be kind to someone today.
