Nancy J Abbott

Nancy Jane Hencle Abbott was born on April 22, 1934. She was a
graduate of Baldwinsville Schools and Cornell University. She taught Home
Economics for the Cato-Meridian High School from 1957-1960. Nancy was
a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. There are many meaningful words to
describe her: 4-H Club leader, rug braider, pistol competitor, family
cheerleader, hostess, Bible study leader, letter writer, bird watcher, prayer
warrior, music enthusiast, cookbook collector, traveler, multi-tasker, Nana,
booklover, gardener, Christmas caroler and visitor to the homebound . 
Nancy was co-owner, with her husband, of Abbott Farms.  She loved
leading the school tours, grading the apples and greeting the customers.
She was a member and longtime librarian of the Fulton Alliance Church. 
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Mildred Hencle and
brother-in-law, Peter Merrell. She is survived by her husband of 67 years
(June 30, 1956), Windsor, daughters Jane (Jeff) Rider and Jean (Ted)
Merrell both of Indiana, and son Warren (Alice) of Baldwinsville, 13
grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sisters Carol (Peter) Merrell of
Wolcott and Susan (JC) Keister of Lakeville, MN, and many nieces and
nephews. 
Nancy met Windsor in third grade and decided she was going to marry that
boy. Windsor was more interested in stealing erasers and dipping pigtails
in inkwells. In fifth grade Nancy started praying for him. Miss Reynolds
(Mae Reynolds Elementary School namesake) commented one day as
they both turned in their tests, “You two should get married, because Nancy
could do the reading and writing and Windsor could do the math.” Upon
graduation Nancy went off to Cornell and shortly thereafter Windsor started
driving to Cornell every Saturday night to take Nancy Square Dancing. “I
have to protect my interests” he said. They married just after Nancy’s
college graduation.
Nancy fought a courageous battle with Dementia that slowly took away her
ability to walk and talk.  Nancy loved Jesus.  He was an essential part of
her life.  We know that she is now walking through fields of flowers with
Jesus, face to face, perfect in every way.  Nancy loved to gather with
others and to celebrate.  At her direction, there will be a celebration of life
service with a meal following, at the Fulton Alliance Church, 1044 State
Route 48, Fulton, NY 13069 on Saturday, January 13 th  at 10:30 am.  There
will be no calling hours. Nancy had beautiful flower beds and especially
loved roses.  Per her request, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made

to The Christian & Missionary Alliance Great Commission Fund c/o Fulton
Alliance Church or the McHarrie Life Foundation, 7740 Meigs Rd,
Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
